Rochester, UK. 3rd September 2013. Display specialist, Ginsbury has announced a new distribution agreement with Ocular, the US based touch screen manufacturer. Ginsbury will promote and market Ocular's Crystal Touch: TRUE Multi-Touch projected capacitive (PCAP) touch screens in the UK and Ireland.

Combining optical clarity, durability and scratch resistance, Crystal Touch, Ocular’s premier line of projected capacitive touch panels, provides significant design flexibility and can be used in many configurations and systems. Crystal Touch PCAP touch panels enable the ideal solution for user interface applications and products requiring a high tech, robust, leading-edge industrial look featuring a bezel-free touch interface.

Ocular's Crystal Touch PCAP touch panels perform more reliably for a longer period of time than resistive touch panels. The pressure applied with each touch to a resistive touch panel gradually erodes the structural integrity of the flexible film and can impact long-term reliability. A capacitive glass touch panel like Crystal Touch registers the user selection from the capacitive effects produced when a finger or stylus touches the panel, not the physical deformation of the panel itself. A Crystal Touch panel will therefore have a significantly longer service life than many other touch panel technologies. Standard Crystal Touch: TRUE Multi-Touch projected capacitive touch panels are available with or without an optically bonded soda-lime cover glass.

Crystal Touch panels can be customized specifically to perform in outdoor and marine environments. Water droplets, especially salt water, can cause false touches on projected capacitive touch panels. False or unintended touches can be problematic, or even dangerous, in certain applications. These specially designed Crystal Touch PCAP panels minimise birefringence and are immune to false touches caused by water spray and droplets yet still maintain accurate touch functionality. Excellent optical qualities are also maintained when polarized sunglasses or cover glass is used.
